Deputy Chief Jack Dempsey has been with the Boston Fire Department for 32 years.  As the City of Boston Fire Marshal his Duties include the Management of the Fire Prevention Division which is responsible for all Fire Code and regulation enforcement in the city.  Chief Dempsey oversees the operation of the Fire Investigation Unit, Construction Safety Unit and all inspections required by Mass General Laws, and issues all permits required by Mass General Law.

Chief Dempsey is currently serving on the Board of Fire Prevention Regulations (BFPR), Automatic Sprinkler Appeals Board (ASAB), is a member of the State Hot Work Commission, and is instrumental in the development and implementation of the NFPA Hot Work Safety Certification program.
